R e d a n g

Fill your life with adventures, not things.
Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.

This was an unforgettable trip.

#1
We decided this trip at the eleventh hour and my friend planned everything without further ado.

#2
3 of them were going from Muar and I was the only one taking night bus from KL to Kuala Terengganu and back by flight, alone.

#3
And so I was being rushed after my work on Friday night, to eat, to pack, to be on board to the bus. I almost took the wrong bus, because there were 2 buses from same company stopped at the same gate. I didn't check where was the bus going and then I went straight up to the bus.

#4
Night bus was really killing me. Didn't really get to sleep because I couldn't find the best sleeping position. Even if I found, I would surely being woken up to freezing cold feet, or the feeling of instability when the bus driver was going way too fast. I also had a lot of rubbish thoughts going on my mind. But the night sky was beautiful, the one we could only see when we got away from the city and back to the rural area where the lights were dim or no lights at all.

#5
So to save battery (actually I didn't quite save it, my phone's battery draining fast), I only switched on data whenever I felt there's any incoming messages. Around 5 a.m., only I saw incoming messages from my friends saying that they were delayed! Probably would only reach around 10+ a.m.. Omg! I thought they were coming at the same time with me and would reach only half and hour later. So I arrived MBKT terminal at 5:30 a.m., being alone and starving. Paid to go to the public washroom, brushed my teeth and ate the snacks I bought before boarding bus earlier.

#6
Two Malay ladies were probably going to Redang as well. So I asked her whether they rent a car to jetty or walk. Then they said they're still deciding between Redang or Perhentian Island. When I finally thought they decided to go to the same direction as me, they abandoned me and go with another lady to Merang Jetty instead.

#7
So I walked alone, to the jetty. Thought wanna go earlier, so that I could catch the sunrise. But, the weather forecast gave me a cloudy icon! It even drizzled when I departed!

Met a weird uncle there when I went up to a bridge to take a photo of the sky. Asked a lot of personal details. And when I asked him to recommend what's famous around that area, he gave me one of the kuih - kuih seri muka, he was eating earlier. I couldn't believe I took it and ate it. He even wanted to save my phone number, to make friends. What the hell. #problemofbeingskepticism

Walked around Chinatown and found a kopitiam, simply had a breakfast and continued exploring the mural arts. Unfortunately, I didn't get to explore all due to time constraint and with my super heavy handcarry - wondering why I switched from backpack to handcarry.

Here are some photos I took:-

Happy 520.
I have no idea why people started celebrated this day, by showing off how they love each other on the social media.

As if the locks can lock the love forever.

The sunrise I got to see.

I like these shots. ❤

This tree made from chair legs.

This is a temple with a big "福" on the wall.

Turtle alley.

#9
Our ferry was originally at 10:30 a.m., so I went ahead to the jetty to redeem our tickets. But they weren't able to make it on time. So I told the agent - Uncle Tan, and he told me that we could be on board for the 3 p.m. ferry.

#10
With hassle of miscommunication, I left my luggage with Uncle Tan and he went back to office and would only be back to the jetty around 2 p.m.. My friend called and she told me agent in Muar had communicated with the resort, saying we would take speed boat at Merang Jetty instead. I was like, what the..? How about my luggage?

...to be continued...

Broga Hill

It's not the mountain that we conquer but ourselves.
- Edmund Hillary -

Remember the post where I said we'll make it to the peak of Broga Hill? And here we are (not the peak yet, though)!

Who said Broga Hill is easy? Definitely not easy for me as an amateur. My legs gave way when I finally reached the 2nd peak. But the view totally earned my perspiration.

We reached quite early, but the place was already very crowded. We found ourselves a perfect spot, sat down and admired the dark starry sky. It had been such a long time since I last seen such a beautiful clear sky. The weather was good, although there were clouds here and there, the sky was full of stars and the moon was almost full.

As the sky began to break, people were started to increase too. So Him and I went to look for a spot that could get perfect photographs of the sunrise, while the rest sitting at the same spot and relaxing.

I couldn't apprehend, why there were people littering everywhere. You go to a place, leave only your footsteps but rubbish. But those people just couldn't get it. They even smoked cigarettes! Totally ruining the place, and the nice view.

Starry starry night~
Can you spot Orion?

City with lights

There was lightning hidden behind the enormous clouds.

The sky started to light up.

Broga Hill is famous with cogon grasses.

Us, in our best 'armour'!

Of course, we couldn't have missed our we-fie.

I'm glad that we hiked Broga Hill together. So much fun! :)

Extreme Sports Activities

I'm not having a very good temper these days due to the hot weather. So if I read your message but without reply, it's obvious that I'm not in a good mood to reply.

Went skytrex and Viper yesterday. I must be crazy for joining 2 extreme activities in a day. So now I'm basically an OKU. Bruises and aches all over my body.

Can't deny, both are once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm not regret to participate in both activities. But it was my first time reached home at 4 a.m. and my parents didn't chide me for coming home late.

Viper Challenge 2016
Thank you everyone for the teamwork and leave no one behind.

p/s: the aches seem to be worse now. :/
Thanks and no next time for extreme sports activities. Hahaha.

- Hiking @ Chilling Waterfall -

It's been 3 months since my last post.
Time flies as we grow older and this phenomenon is called zenosyne.

This video will give you a better insight. Haha.

And so, I realised - if there is something you wanted to do so much, just go ahead and do it. Because time doesn't wait.

Yea, I did crazy stuff and up till now is yet to confess to my mom. HAHA.

It was last Saturday - 04.07.15 - I was randomly being invited to a hiking session with my primary school friend, Pwen's friends. I was hesitated as whether to join or not. She said can bring along my friend, so I asked Cyen about it and the response I get from her was "yer, hou wai". Somehow expected but the answer still hit me. [Sensitive piece of shit, me] The day before departure, I only knew that I was not the only one being invited. Pwen's friend's bringing his friends too, a bunch of them. LOL. Sorry for using a bunch, but the situation had now became like we joined them instead of they joined us.

As usual, we followed Malaysia time. I reach Pwen's house by 7 a.m. The rest came around 7+ a.m. She told me we were going to depart sharp at 7.15 a.m. Dragging and stuff, we waited at petrol station nearby for her friend. Finally, we departed at 8 a.m. We went to Petronas station after getting through the first toll. Buying breakfast and toilet break.

That morning rained heavily, after the drought for so long. The sky was still ominous when we started our journey. Gradually, the ray of light broke through and it was such a beautiful sunrise. Unfortunately, I was sitting behind so I couldn't get the full view if I was to take photograph of it. Well, the best was kept in heart even without taking any photograph of it. The view was like what I saw on top of Mount. Sg Lembing - sea of clouds.

The first thing we did after we arrived @ Chilling Waterfall, Kuala Kubur Bahru was #groupfie.

From left: Viki, Shaun,Yvonne, Zhang Bin, Chun Hao, Yu Liang, Lam,
Wilson, Me, Elaine, Pei Wen, Esther, Jeen
(hope I got it right as I kept mixing up the girls' name)

We took several shots just to make sure our faces could all be seen and most importantly the entrance sign. We sauntered for a short route and reached a wide space with a pondok and toilets. Quickly registered ourselves and paid RM1 each for the entrance fee. From here started our adventure!

This is the wide space that I mentioned.
Didn't take the pondok into the photo.
Greenery~

I thought I took the photo of the bridge.
I actually took photo of the river on the bridge.
HAHAHA

Because total of us was 13 people, we couldn't afford to stop by and take photograph. We had to move as a team. HAHA. We continued from where we left - the ice-breaking - along the way.

The creature I hate the most in this world.
But still, I had took a photo of it - we were tourist ma.

We were soon reaching the first river. Crossing the river can be hectic and exhausted - the current and the rocks underneath that we could only feel instead of seeing it. It was great that we went there in a group. Everybody was helping one another. Few of the guys standing in the middle of the river helping us girls crossing with ease. :)

When we were closed to the second river, we heard scream. We quickly rushed forward and checked out what was happening. A guy (from the group of four) was being washed away by the current and the reason was ridiculous. I thought he was simply being washed away because the current was quite strong at the 2nd river. Who knows - the reason was he went to 'save' his shoes. Speechless. YL and Lam went to save him but he was too panicked to hold on to the stick that was delivered to him.

Luckily, everyone was safe. And we helped the group of four to cross the river too. Honestly, they didn't dress like coming for a hike. They were more like going to a beach. The girls were wearing bikinis! Another 3 more rivers and the roads were getting a little bit tougher to walk on.

FINALLY, we reached the destination! Photo-taking time!

The fall.
Magnificent right?

I saw my initial!

She was eating and I taking #wefie.

The stream.

#wefie part II

We were photo-bombed by 2 Indian uncles.

(Y)

Okay, so the crazy thing I did was I jumped off the cliff - the one next to the fall. We were so excited climbing up the cliff but never think of how to get down from there. Despite the fact that I do not know how to swim - I actually know, but I guess it's about the mentally trauma thing that makes me panic - I still jumped, bravely. Of course I won't do such reckless thing, I trust my newly-made friends would save me. LOL. Betting my life on their hands. So, yea. It was super deep, I couldn't even stand in the water. There was about 30cm when I got into the water. Panic started kicking in and I felt myself started to drink water. The feeling of suffocating, drowning... When I thought I was gonna lose my conscious, I caught a hand. I kept dragging the hand down with me as I couldn't stand on the ground. Sorry, life savior, making you drink the muddy water with me. :/ And thanks! :D

As I was to get out from the pool, I made an eye contact with someone I was familiar with. I thought he was my high school friend. Until we finally meet on the ground, and Pwen came around and said he's Li Kai. Oh shit! I just shouted out my high school friend's name. :O

Here he is.
Because this photo was taken with my camera, he offered to become the monopod selfie stick.

The view when we heading back out.

Tourist-kind of shot. HAHA

Last but not least, the weather was so GOOD and I captured a shot of goldfish cloud.

Anticipating the next outing with these people, hope they do not think I'm a nuisance who did crazy things. They kept teasing me with the jumping-off-cliff-event.

p/s: When can I go out and enjoy such a good day again? :')
